Celnor Group colleagues Megan Eaton, Commercial Director at MC Plan and Site Services, and Sharon Gavin, Operations Director at Riverside Environmental Services, recently attended Inflexion’s Diversity Exchange, joining senior female leaders from across the Inflexion portfolio.
The event provided an opportunity to hear different perspectives on leadership and business growth, share experiences and explore some of the challenges and opportunities facing growing organisations.
One of the sessions featured Lilia Santos, CFO of Medik8, who shared her experience of supporting the company through a significant period of growth. She discussed how her role has evolved alongside the business and the importance of adapting leadership, infrastructure and capabilities as an organisation scales.
The event also explored the growing role of artificial intelligence in the workplace. The ‘Hype to Habit’ session looked at how businesses can move beyond simply talking about AI and begin incorporating it into everyday working practices.
In particular, the session considered how AI can act as a ‘thought partner’, supporting areas such as analytics, decision-making and efficiency.
For Megan, the discussion had clear relevance to both MC Plan and Site Services and the wider Celnor Group.
“As we continue to grow, there is a real opportunity to consider how we use technology and AI to support our people, streamline processes and give our teams more time to focus on the areas where human expertise adds the greatest value,” she said.
The final session, delivered by Lauren and Helene from The PE Collective, focused on influence in the workplace and how effective communication and strong relationships can help create the conditions for people and ideas to succeed.
For Sharon, the openness of the event and the opportunity to reflect on her own leadership experiences were particularly valuable.
“It was the first time I’ve been to a female-only event, and the warmth and openness of the delegates was a pleasure to experience,” she said.
“Every presentation was relevant to my role, and it gave me an opportunity to reflect on my own experiences and consider new ways of working to achieve different outcomes.”
The event also provided Megan and Sharon with an opportunity to spend time together and learn more about their respective businesses within Celnor Group.
Sharon added: “Equally as valuable was spending time with a fellow Director within the Celnor portfolio of companies. Learning more about another business through sharing challenges and successes with a like-minded person creates a unique network of support.”
Reflecting on the event, Megan said: “It was a brilliant opportunity to meet senior female leaders from across the Inflexion portfolio and hear about their experiences. I came away with plenty to reflect on, particularly around leadership, growth, technology and how we can continue to develop as our businesses grow.”
