Following the recent launch of its new Cambridge office, Group member, Airey Miller, welcomed local MP Charlotte Cane to explore the region’s housing challenges and discuss barriers to delivering social and affordable housing in Cambridgeshire on Thursday 19th March.
Charlotte Cane, a Member of Parliament for Ely and East Cambridgeshire and Councillor John Trapp were given a tour of Airey Miller’s new Milton Hall office and heard from the team how its local base will enable the business to work more closely with clients and project partners, providing responsive, on-the-ground support and deeper local insight.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to bring together local government and industry insight, with discussions around the challenges affecting the pipeline of regional affordable housing and the appetite of Registered Providers (RP) in the current climate of market uncertainty, increasing planning and regulatory complexity along with rising build costs and viability pressures.
The meeting reinforced the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in overcoming challenges to housing delivery by aligning policy, funding mechanisms and technical expertise to create more effective delivery frameworks.
Kieran Vincent, Managing Director of Airey Miller Group, said:
“Cambridge and the surrounding area is a key market for Airey Miller and our new Milton Hall office means we are well placed to respond to regional housing needs. Solution-focused, open dialogue between the public and private sector is crucial in addressing the housing crisis. To have the opportunity to discuss our plans, including how we are working to support the delivery of much-needed social and affordable homes in the area, was extremely valuable and aligns with our commitment to regional collaboration.”
MP Charlotte Cane said:
“Ensuring that everyone in Cambridgeshire has access to a safe, secure and affordable home is one of our most pressing challenges. Meeting the Airey Miller team and seeing their commitment to working collaboratively with local partners has been hugely valuable. By bringing together expertise from across the public and private sectors, we can better navigate the barriers to delivering the homes our communities urgently need.”
With the support of Celnor, the Cambridge office opening marked an important milestone in Airey Miller’s expanding regional footprint as it continues to support sustainable development across the UK.
