We’re delighted to announce the expansion of A F Howland Associates (AFHA) with the opening of a new office in Romford, strengthening the company’s coverage across London and the South East.
This latest investment marks another key milestone in AFHA’s ongoing growth and underlines our shared commitment to supporting clients, teams, and sustainable development across the UK.
Purposefully located on the eastern edge of London, the Romford office enhances AFHA’s operational network, complementing its head office in Norfolk and regional base in Suffolk. The new site positions the company closer to major infrastructure and development projects across London, Essex, Kent, and the Home Counties, enabling faster mobilisation, greater responsiveness, and closer collaboration with clients and partners.
Karl Blanke, Managing Director at AFHA, said:
“The opening of our Romford office marks an important milestone in our growth. It reinforces our commitment to being closer to our clients, supporting projects across London and the South East with faster response times, local expertise, and the same high standards of quality, safety, and technical excellence that define AFHA.”
As part of the Celnor Group, AFHA continues to benefit from the strength of a collaborative network of specialist companies operating across the built environment, safety, and compliance sectors. This approach enables shared expertise, innovation, and integrated solutions that enhance the value delivered to clients nationwide.
Simon Clennell-Jones, Managing Director – Built Environment at Celnor Group, said:
“AFHA continues to build on its well-earned reputation for technical quality and dependable service. The new Romford office strengthens its ability to support clients across London and the South East, and reflects the wider Celnor Group’s commitment to investing in our member businesses and empowering them to grow. With AFHA having already developed a track record working closely with other Group companies, this new location furthers Celnor’s ability to provide a complete commercial focused solution to our clients from ground risk, environmental, ecology, land and marine surveying, through to project management.”
The opening of the Romford office represents more than geographic expansion – it’s an investment in people, proximity, and partnership, reinforcing AFHA’s role as a trusted leader in geotechnical and geoenvironmental services and marking another strong step forward for the Celnor Group network.
The office will be led by Richard Biney who joined AFHA earlier in 2025. To discuss how AFHA can support your project, please reach out to Richard Biney, rbiney@howland.co.uk, 07421 468 905.
